On the 21st of March 2021, FERMUDA Corporation was de-registered by the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) "by-request".
FERMUDA posted a report on the interview with 2 unnamed individuals which then sparked a heated discussion within the community.
This also lead to one of the former CEO of FERMUDA, Rafisleeping, to single-handedly de-register the company himself.
In this report, we will dig into what happened, what critical events that lead to the de-registration of FERMUDA, a lawsuit, and the reputation of one of MYS's largest corporation.
WHAT LEAD TO THE DE-REGISTERATION?
After the report sparked a massive heated discussion, the SSM were notified by the community and raising concerns if the report was misleading. The person who wrote the report, imnotRummy, were known to show dissatisfaction with the current government and primarily the Prime Minister, Secret_Intelligence.
As it is not SSM's job to investigate misleading reports or misinformation, MCMC was then notified by the SSM about the current ongoing heated discussion and as well as the report itself.
However, as the MCMC was about to start the investigation, hours later, FERMUDA was de-registered "by-request".
INTERVIEW WITH RAFISLEEPING (RAFIVOV) In an interview with former CEO of Fermuda, Rafisleeping, he revealed that the another former CEO of Fermuda, DunkzThePotato, was told to hand over the management over to harinaikuni0. However, due to unknown reasons, the management was handed over to imnotRummy, which leads to today.
When asked about why Rafi voluntarily de-registered Fermuda, he stated:
"Ok, so as you know our policy during my term and Dunk's term is to not be biased and to be transparent. And not to make any political statement using the company as a tool. He is using "Freedom of speech" as his shield. Especially he stated that I actively criticize the method of Journalism on the court claims paper, I thought he said he is going to protect freedom of speech? And especially after the unnamed interview thing, I really doubt it's actually someone, not saying it's not, but I really doubt it. Especially it has some sort of dislike words on the PM and we know that he always criticize the government and stuff."
"And I think it's necessary. To make Malaysian media more transparent and not biased. Don't bring American news style to here. And especially the public doesn't like the way he make news either."
